It’s the middle of May, which means two things: one, flowers (thanks, April) and two, graduation. Yikes.
Graduating, as one of life’s most textbook milestones, triggers a variety of fervent emotions within us: excitement, anxiety, fear, relief. Here at Bottle, we know that graduation — whether it’s from high school, college or Hamburger University — is quite the time.
Accordingly, we’ve created a playlist you can bump before you kick ass (and probably happy/sad cry) at your graduation, from whatever it may be.
“Closing Time” — Semisonic
“Work Hard, Play Hard” — Wiz Khalifa
That shit got me through college.
—Jacquelyn Oesterblad, executive voices editor
“Feeling Myself” — Nicki Minaj ft. Beyonce
The song that should be playing over and over in your head before graduation and while you’re walking across the stage to make you feel like the bo$$ ass bitch you are (I imagine myself walking in slo-mo to this song on the way to my diploma.
“Worth It” — Fifth Harmony ft. Kid Ink
Give it to me I’m worth it / Baby I’m worth it / Uh huh I’m worth it / Gimme gimme I’m worth it. “It” is your diploma.
“What Now” — Rihanna
Rih wailing “what now?” in the chorus will be post-college you, everyday.
—Jenny Aranda, executive culture editor
“Drop It Like It’s Hot” — Snoop Dogg ft. Pharrell
—Christianna Silva, editor-in-chief
“Homecoming” — Kanye West ft. Chris Martin
Even though I’m not going home after college, it just always put me in a good mood and got me pumped up.
—Meghan Fernandez, executive lifestyle editor
“Before The World Was Big” — Girlpool
Aurally revel in the more simple days before college, when you thought you had a lot on your plate and were less jaded than your current self.
“Graduation Song (Friends Forever)” — Vitamin C
They played it at your fifth grade, eighth grade and high school graduation, and you’re going to obligatorily listen to it before you graduate from college. “Thnks Fr th Mmrs” is an alternative nostalgic jam if you really hate Vitamin C.
“Touch the Sky” — Kanye West
This song goes off. Kanye reminds us that we are fly, and will touch the sky until the day we die—just what us YAs entering the Real World need (and want) to hear.

“We Are the Champions” — Queen
A classic celebration tune. It’s cheesy, but nonetheless enjoyable. This would probably be one of the better songs to hear upon accomplishing such a feat as graduation.
“When They Fight, They Fight” — Generationals
Call things what they are! This song is bittersweet and honest lyrically, and makes you want to dance. You just hit a huge milestone, and it’s likely to have you feeling a combination of ways. You have a lot to look forward to—take things at face value and make the best of all your extra time while listening to this song.
